This Is Not Detention follows five high school students accused of hacking the school’s grading system and sentenced to daily detention until someone confesses. At first, the room is filled with denial, sarcasm, blame, and suspicion as Riley, Jordan, Emerson, Alex, and Jamie all insist they are innocent.

But as the week goes on, the walls begin to come down. Behind the accusations are students carrying real pressure, grief, fear, family expectations, and private struggles no one else has taken the time to see. What begins as punishment slowly becomes something deeper: an unexpected space for honesty, connection, and unlikely friendship. By the end, one thing is clear — this is not detention.
